The roads in almost all wards have turned into a mess due to work on the 24x7 drinking water project.

The work on the 24x7 drinking water project under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) has turned out to be a cause of concern among people.

As the roads are being dug for the project in almost all the wards including Jayanagara, Basavanahalli, Kuvempunagara, Vijayapura, the residents are being affected with the dust, and are suffering from cold, vomiting, diarrhoea and eye related problems.

Vehicle riders have also been facing a huge inconvenience as mud is dumped alongside the road.

Pedestrians have been covering their faces to prevent dust from entering their lungs. The dust not only rests on people but has also been contaminating the water.

ENT specialist Dr Geeta Venkatesh said that due to the excessive dust, more people have been affected with sore eyes. Many have also been suffering from respiratory problems, she said.

Shivu, a shopkeeper said that he is fed up with the dust menace.

Vegetables and other items are covered with dust despite washing them umpteen number of times, he complained.
