Video of MLA 'abusing' official goes viral

Legislator Araga Jnanendra (BJP) landed in a controversy after a video clip, in which he allegedly abused a taluk office staffer, went viral on social media on Saturday.

The BJP workers, led by MLA, had staged a protest in front of taluk office two days ago demanding tahasildar to sack Santhosh, outsource office staffer. Knowing this, Santhosh arrived at the taluk office and the MLA had used foul language against him. Besides, the MLA had even given death threat to him,it is learnt. The incident was recorded and uploaded on social media.

As soon as the video clip went viral, former minister Kimmane Ratnakar, arch-rival of Aaraga Jnanendra, staged a dharna in front of the taluk office and urged the police to provide protection to the government employees as they are are unable to discharge their duties due to the rude behaviour of the MLA.

This is the second such incident in the district. Earlier, Bhadravathi B K Sangameshwar (Congress) had abused a Forest Department officer over phone. Later, the MLA had apologised to the officer.
