Rs 5 crore sought for development of Sainik School, says minister

Cooperation Minister S T Somshekhar and Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj visited Sainik School in Koodige on Tuesday.

Sainik School principal Col G Kannan briefed the ministers on the developments of the school.

He also said that damages were caused by artificial floods due to the release of water from Harangi reservoir in 2018.

The government should provide assistance for the repair of the building, he said.

Minister Somshekhar contacted additional chief secretary to the irrigation department, Rakesh Singh, and informed him about the losses caused to Sainik School due to the release of water from Harangi dam.

The minister also asked the official to submit a proposal for Rs 5 crore funds. Rakesh Singh assured of doing the needful.

Madikeri MLA Appachu Ranjan, Sainik School deputy principal Lt Col Seema Tripathi, school administrative officer, R K D squadron leader and other staff were present.
