The director of the department of public instruction (DPI), on Tuesday, issued an order extending the summer vacation till June 14 for primary schools in Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts.
The order comes in the wake of the increasing temperature in Hyderabad Karnataka region. However, the principals have been asked to go be present in the schools.
Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner R Venkatesh Kumar had written to the DPI, requesting it to defer reopening of schools in the district in the wake of the high temperatures, recorded between 43 and 44 degree Celsius.
The mercury level touched 45 degree Celsius in the district on Tuesday. The minimum temperature has increased to 30 degree Celsius. The heat wave is being felt all through the day.
