In the wake of serial bomb blasts in Sri Lanka, a high alert has been sounded in various parts of the state including Kodagu.
As per the inputs provided by the Central Intelligence Department, high-alert is being maintained in the district.
The bomb squads and sniffer squads carried out inspections at various places in Madikeri as a precautionary measure.
The police have kept an eye on the bus shelter, All India Radio, court and district administration complex.
The reservoir of Kodagu, Harangi, is being provided with tight police security.
Superintendent of Police Dr Suman D Pennekar said that additional personnel have been deployed at the dam.
“We will keep an eye on unknown persons moving around the dam. As there is a rise in the number of tourists visiting Kodagu, the Police Department has taken up precautionary measures to prevent anti-social activities,” the SP added.
On Sunday, the bomb detection teams carried out checking at Harangi dam, bus shelters in Kushalnagar and Somwarpet, court premises and government office premises.
