Sode Vadiraj Mutt seer Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swami said the Aradhane of late Shiroor Mutt seer Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swami, supposed to be held on 12th or 13th day following the death, will be held once the police hand over the possession of the mutt to Sode Mutt.
Speaking to reporters, the Sode seer said that the Brindavan of the late seer will be built on the first anniversary of his death. It happens with every seer who dies and there is no discrimination with Shiroor seer, he reiterated.
“If everything goes well and police hand over the mutt, the Aradhane ritual of the late seer will be held on July 31. I have spoken to the SP and he has promised to inform about the date when the complete custody of the Sode Mutt will be handed over to us,” he said.
The seer added that he is not aware of the Shiroor Mutt’s assets and loan payment. It was all managed by the late seer. However, a five-member committee will take charge once the police investigation is completed, he said.
A Shiroor Mutt representative will also be the part of the committee. The appointment of the new seer to the mutt may happen any time given that the disciple’s horoscope and
also the family history is known, the seer clarified.
He said there are no rejections so far from the families of those who are being considered for the new seer’s position of the mutt. Though there is no written rules to appoint a seer aged above 18 years, the successor to the Shiroor mutt will be above 18 years, he added.
The seer said he does not know about the fact that late Shiroor seer had already appointed a junior pontiff secretly. He said, “No one has come forward. The Shiroor Mutt is not orphan as described by the media. The Dwandwa (Sode) Mutt is here to take care of it.”
The seer said, “The Sode Mutt and all the other mutts are very cooperative with the police investigation. The Puja and other rituals at the original Shiroor Mutt are held regularly. The Homas are held every day and Ranga Puje was also performed.”
