Mangaluru: The Panambur police have arrested six persons, including a foreign national, on the charges of drug peddling in Panambur. The police has seized cocaine, MDMA and a scooter from the arrested.
Acting on a tip off that two people were selling drugs near the road behind KIOCL, Panambur PSI Sreekala K T under the guidance of Mangaluru North Sub-Division ACP Shrikant K, arrested Chandan and Sharath on October 2.
After gaining infromation from the two accused, the police also arrested four other suspects who assisted in the drug trade. The arrested are Madhusudhan Konchadi, Dhanush Akashbhavana, Mukesh Derebail and Nigerian national Michael Balaji alias Azubike Johnny.
The police seized 11 grams of cocaine and 30 grams of MDMA, with a total value of Rs 91,000, from the arrested. Additionally, a scooter bearing the registration number KA-02-KX-0616, used for selling drugs, along with nine mobile phones, were confiscated, said Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal.
All the arrested work in private jobs, including catering and painting. The accused were produced before the court, which remanded them in judicial custody.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal with directions from DCP (Law and Order) Sidharth Goyal, and DCP (Crime and Traffic) Dinesh Kumar.
The team was led by Mangaluru North Division ACP Shrikant K comprised Panambur Police Inspector Mohammed Saleem Abbas, Sub-Inspector Sreekala K T, and head constables Premananda, Satish M R, Sayyad Imtiyaz, Cherian K, James, and police constables Shashikumar, Rakesh L M., and Manjunath.
The Anti-Drug Squad of Mangaluru North Sub-Division, led by PSI Raghavendra M Naik and staff Sunil H M, Vinayak, and Basavaraj, also participated in the operation.
