After rescuing three of his friends from drowning, a software engineer from Bengaluru drowned at Mallalli waterfalls on Sunday.
The victim, Skanda (25), is the son of couple Shankar-Revathi, residents of Vivekananda Nagara in Mysuru.
Skanda, along with his 11 friends, had visited Mallalli falls. All had reached “Maranabavi”, a dangerous spot in the waterfalls without paying heed to the warning board. They entered the pit to take a bath and began to drown.
On seeing his friends in danger, Skanda entered the water and rescued three of them, but failed to save himself from drowning. A case has been registered at the Somwarpet police station.
