Members of DK Ex-servicemen’s Association, District Youth Congress and others paid tribute at War Memorial in Kadri on Friday to CRPF personnel who were martyred in the fidayeen attack at Pulwama.

A large number of people lit candles on the occasion.

Members of VHP and Bajrang Dal staged a protest at PVS Circle condemning the attack.

Prayers were offered in masjids in Dakshina Kannada.

During the Friday prayer, Masjidul Huda Thokkottu Khatiba Mohammed Kunhi said:“It is our duty to condemn such a heinous crime that took place in Pulwama. The issue should not be politicised. Those who are behind the act should be punished.”

Offering Jumma Khutbah at Kacchi Memon Masjid, Maulana Shoib said: “The attack on soldiers is equal to an attack on Allah (God). We all have to stand by the soldiers.”

Bolangady Hawwa Masjid Khatiba Yahya Tangal said: “It is a condemnable incident. All the Muslims should unitedly condemn the heinous act.”

District In-charge Minister U T Khader said: “It is a cowardice and a heinous act. There is a need to retaliate the terrorist act. We are all with the Central government.”

In Udupi

Pulwama attack was strongly condemned across society and special prayers were held in memory of the martyrs in religious institutions all over Udupi.

The protest was organised by district Congress and Sangh Pariwar factions including Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajarang Dal. Protesters demanded retaliation from the Indian side.

The government should take action to completely stop such barbaric acts in future, demanded agitators.

They demanded action against Pakistan which is inciting terror acts in India. Most of the protests and obituary meets were held at Martyrs Memorial at Ajjarkadu.

A condolence meet was held by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike at Board High School grounds. Catholic Sabha also strongly condemned the incident and demanded instant action. They also termed the incident as a massive loss to the country.

A prayer meet for the departed souls was organised at Jumma Masjid in Gangolli.

Youth Congress organised a silent candle light meet to the martyrs on the occasion. District Nagarika Samiti organised the condolence meet by observing silent prayers.
