Mangaluru: The city police have been successful in arresting two persons who had allegedly waylaid an interfaith colleagues riding on a two-wheeler and questioning them, at Mangaluru South Police Station limits on Monday night.
According to commissioner of police Anupam Agrawal, the arrested are Akshay Rao and Shibin Padikal.
It is alleged Noorulla Amin and his female colleague hailing from different faith working in a shop at Mulihithlu were returning back after repairing a mobilephone when the incident occurred on Monday night.
The duo were allegedly followed by two Bajrang Dal activists. The arrested allegedly questioned them for moving around.
The Hoysala team rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation and rescued the two victims. Following the complaint, the police were successful in arresting the duo.
A case has been registered at Mangaluru South Police Station. Investigation is in progress.
