‘Undeclared emergency in country’

Mysore University Journalism Department Professor Maheshchandra Guru has said that there is an undeclared emergency in the country and there is no liberty to express one’s opinions.

Speaking during the Press Day organised by the district journalists’ association and Press Club in Madikeri on Sunday, he said that when a person speaks on the reality, he is threatened of dire consequences. “Inviting some people to come near Vidhana Soudha, I had stated that I was ready to get martyred for the society. Is it wrong to bat for the constitutional values?” he asked and added that one will become irrelevant if one goes behind money and power.
