Slain RTI and BJP activist Vinayak Baliga’s sisters have presented an open letter to BJP National President Amit Shah, demanding answers to questions related to their brother's killing.
Speaking to the media, one sister Anuradha Baliga, sought to know why either MP Nalin Kumar Kateel or any other BJP office-bearer had not visited them even once, to express their condolences or support to the family, despite Vinayak being a staunch party worker.
Rationalist Narendra Nayak along with the Baliga sisters produced a response by one BJP minister who wrote to the Karnataka Home secretary urging him to constitute a special investigation team to go into the causes behind the murder.
The names of the sitting Mangaluru South MLA candidate Vedavyas Kamath and his associate Naresh Shenoy are mentioned in the letter.
Harsha, the other sister of Vinayak Baliga, said that during a recent programme in the city she had asked BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi why the BJP had been supporting the murder suspect instead of supporting the Vinayak’s case.
To this poser, the MP had avoided answering the question, terming it a local issue. The Baliga family also sought an explanation from Shah on the same issue.
Questions of Baliga sisters
* Why Vinayak's name was missing in the list of slain BJP workers during campaigns?
* Why the party failed to protest despite Vinayaka Baliga's murder, though he was an active BJP-RSS member all his life?
*Why the party has not come to the aid of Vinayak's 88-year-old father who is fighting for justice for his son?
