Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday for focussing more on Pakistan instead of problems faced by Indian citizens.
He was responding to a question on the aftermath of the Pulwama attack that saw India launch an airstrike on terror camps in Pakistan.
“Modi is India’s PM, but his view is only at Pakistan. He’s going ‘Pakistan, Pakistan, Pakistan’. Talk about your own people...what are you doing for them? If you wanted to have a surgical strike, you should’ve done one on poverty and unemployment. Those are the surgical strikes this nation needed,” he said.
Farm distress, jobs, corruption, drinking water, air pollution, housing, food prices and transportation were the real problems in this country, Sibal said. “But is he talking about these issues? If he’s a chowkidar, what happened in Gurdaspur? Pathankot? Uri? Baramulla? Pulwama? What is the chowkidar doing when young girls are raped in Kathua,” he asked.
“No one has destroyed or diminished the status of the office of the prime minister like Narendra Modi has,” Sibal charged.
