Delegation of Pollution Control Board officials from West Bengal visited the Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) unit at Vandse in Udupi.

Udupi district is a model in solid and liquid waste management, said West Bengal Pollution Control Board Secretary S V Mukherjee.

A delegation of officials from the West Bengal Pollution Control Board visited the Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) units at Varamballi, Vandse and Nitte on Tuesday.

Speaking to media persons, the delegation members said the waste management units have not only helped in scientific disposal of waste but also helped in generating employment. Other states should emulate the Udupi model. This will help in solving the garbage problem as well.

The unit in Udupi is first of its kind in the country.

Lakshmikanth of Environment Department, CMC environment engineer Raghavendra, Kaduru PDO Mahesh and others were present on the occasion.
