Heavy rain lashed several parts of north Karnataka late on Tuesday night and Friday evening, bringing mercury down.
The residents Bagalkot got a relief from sweltering heat after heavy rain coupled with thunder and lightning lashed the town for more than an hour on Friday evening. Strong winds brought down tree branches and uprooted electricity poles.
Rain water gushed into several houses in low-lying areas. Officials deputed on election duty had a tough time as there was no power supply at polling booths due to the rain. There was heavy downpour in Jamakhandi for around 30 minutes. Though heat condition prevailed since morning, skies opened up towards evening.
Sandur in Ballari district received moderate rain on Thursday night. It rained heavily in Lakshmeshwar of Gadag district and there were reports that water had accumulated some small tanks in and around the town.
Heavy rain coupled with gutsy winds damaged several houses in Karwar late on Thursday night. There were reports of heavy downpour in Mundgod, Sirsi, Haliyal and Honnavar.
Power supply was affected as electricity poles were uprooted by heavy winds.
