Tension prevailed in the early hours of Friday after a wild male elephant made a surprise visit to the town.
According to police, the wild elephant was first sighted by the morning walkers near Maradi Gudda at
5:30 am.
Walkers alerted Forest department officials, who, along with police personnel, burst crackers and and diverted the elephant to the forests.The elephant did not cause any damage to lives and property. Since it was wee hours, there was not much public on the road.
Forest department officials said that further damage was averted since alert morning walkers spotted the pachyderm, which could be
20-25 years old, and immediately informed the department.
