The three students, identified as Anjana, Aleena and Akshita, were accused of abetting the suicide of Ammu. The three were taken into custody on Thursday and interrogated before being arrested.

Ammu's family had alleged that Ammu was facing severe torture from the three students who were her classmates and hostel mates. The family even raised suspicions over the version of the college and hostel authorities that Ammu ended life by suicide by jumping from the third floor of the hostel.

The family also alleged serious negligence on the part of the college and hostel authorities in providing timely medical care to her.

Police sources said that a note was recovered from Ammu's room, which stated 'I quit'. It is being subjected to forensic examination.

Even as the incident took place on November 15, pressure mounted on the police to take stringent action after various students unions launched a stir.
