A foreign woman has been granted permission to watch the trial proceedings of her sister's murder case progressing in a court in Thiruvananthapuram.

Latvian tourist Liga Skromane was sexually assaulted and killed near Kovalam tourist spot in March 2018. Two local residents, Umesh and Udayan, are the accused in the case.

Liga's sister Ilze has been camping in Thiruvananthapuram over the last several months to witness the trial at the Thiruvananthapuram additional sessions court. But as her visa expired she had to return. Hence she approached the court seeking permission to view the trial proceedings live online.

Liga came down to Kerala along with Ilze for Ayurveda treatment and yoga therapy. She went missing on March 14. Her body was found in a decomposed state after 38 days in an isolated area close to Kovalam.
