Thane: The death toll in the reactor blast in a chemical unit of Amudan Chemicals Pvt Ltd in Dombivli in Thane district mounted to 13. The police registered a case against the owners and arrested one of them.

Thane police registered a case against Malti Pradip Mehta and her son Malay Pradip Mehta. The mother-son duo are Mumbai residents.

While Malti Mehta was arrested from Nashik, her son Malay Mehta was arrested from Thane. 

According to the Thane police and Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, 13 bodies have been recovered so far. More than 60 people were injured in the accident. Some of the victims are still undergoing treatment in Thane's hospitals. 

The search and rescue operations are still ongoing. 

The police has booked the accused under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 34 (common intention), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by using dangerous weapons or means), 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter), 286 (negligent conduct involving explosive substances), 427 (mischief) of the Indian Penal Code.

They have also been booked under sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Explosive Act 1884—Section 9(b) & 9(c) of Explosive Substances Act and section 4 of Damage to Public Property Act.
