Under multiple investigations, controversial IAS Probationary Officer (PO) Dr Puja Manorama Dilip Khedkar’s car has been impounded by the Pune police on Sunday.
Dr Khedkar had been using a red-and-blue beacon along with a VIP number plate on the private luxury car, an Audi with ‘Maharashtra Government’ written on it, in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act.
On Saturday night, the driver of the Khedkar family handed over the keys and papers to the police.
Past-midnight, the car was seized by the Chatushrungi police station.
The vehicle has been fined Rs 26,000 for a total of 21 traffic violations.
The Traffic branch of the Chatushrungi police station has secured the car and further investigations are in progress.
A tyre wheel clamp was put in the car and barricades were installed around it.
The Regional Transport Office has issued a notice to a city-based private company, which is the registered owner of the Audi car that 34-Dr Khedkar was during her posting in Pune before last week’s transfer to Washim.
There are strict rules related to the use of red-and-blue beacons, however, the use by Dr Khedkar was a complete violation, according to the Maharashtra government and Pune Police.
