The Supreme Court is to consider on Tuesday a plea against the arrest of a BJP youth wing leader for making a meme on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
A bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and Sanjiv Khanna agreed to hear a writ petition filed by arrested leader Priyanka Shama's brother Rajib Sharma.
Senior advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul, appearing for Sharma, contended the 26-year-old woman leader was arrested for her Facebook post.
There was a strike in the courts in the state, leaving her with no option but to approach the top court, Kaul said. Rajib has filed a writ petition.
