Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak on peace, stability and prosperity of a sustainable planet while participating in the G7’s outreach sessions with partner nations during the bloc’s summit in Hiroshima in Japan on May 19 to 21.
The prime minister will also speak on food, fertiliser, energy security, health, gender equality, climate change and environment, resilient infrastructure and development cooperation, according to the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
Modi will leave New Delhi on May 19 to tour three nations – Japan, Papua New Guinea and Australia. He will first attend the G7 summit, which will be hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
India is not a member of the G7, but its leaders have been attending outreach events being held during the summits of the bloc.
Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with Kishida. He will also hold bilateral meetings with some of the other participating leaders on the sideline of the summit, the MEA stated in New Delhi.
The prime minister will travel to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, from Hiroshima. He will host the 3rd Summit of the Forum for India–Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC III Summit) jointly with the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape, on May 22. Launched in 2014, the FIPIC involves India and 14 Pacific Island Countries.
Modi will also visit Sydney from May 22 to 24 at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to participate in the Quad Leaders’ Summit. Kishida and US President Joe Biden will also attend the summit. “The summit provides an opportunity for the leaders to exchange views about developments in the Indo-Pacific region and advance their vision for a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific,” the MEA stated.
