Rajasthan BJP chief Madan Lal Saini, who stirred a controversy by saying, Mughal emperor, Humayun told his son Babur to "respect cows, brahmins and women", conceded that his statement was a slip of the tongue.

Saini, during his visit to BJP office in Kota on Friday, said that it was by mistake that he said Humayun is the son of Babur. "Media is being selective and are blowing up my mistake. They should instead highlight on my message about Mughal emperors and their concern about cows and women."

In a video that went viral on social media, newly formed BJP chief Saini, while speaking on the alleged killing of Akbar Khan in Alwar said, "Jab Humayun mar raha tha, us samay usne Babur ko bulaya tha. Aur unhone kaha tha ki Hindustan me tumko sashan karna hai to teen chizon ka dhyan rakhna, Ek to gaai, Brahman aur mahila, inke izzat. (When Humayun was dying, he summoned his son Babur, and said that if you want to rule India, you should respect the cow, Brahmins, and women).” Akbar Khan was allegedly lynched on suspicion of being a cow smuggler.

His statement, being factually incorrect, has received brickbats on social media for his poor history sense. Babur was the father of Humayun and had died in 1531, around 25 years before the latter’s death in 1556.
Saini (71), a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan, was appointed as the state president of the BJP last month after the seat lay vacant for more than two months after former state party chief Ashok Parnami resigned in April.
