Income Tax on Thursday raided Poorvika mobiles founder & CEO Uvaraj Natarajan's residence in Chennai, news agency ANI reported.

The raids are currently under way and further details awaited, the agency added.

The investigation is reportedly based on a complaint of tax evasion and is part of a larger audit. The Income Tax department had deployed two teams, each consisting of more than 15 officers, to conduct the searches, media reports said.

Poorvika Mobiles is a well-known mobile retailer with over 259 outlets across Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Karnataka. It was founded in 2004 by Uvaraj Natarajan and Kanni Uvaraj and the company has established itself as a major name in the mobile retail industry.
