Chennai: One of the five labourers who collapsed at the MGR Chennai Central railway station due to starvation on September 16 died on Monday night. While one patient is under treatment, three others were discharged a couple of days ago.

The labourers were part of a 12-member group that came from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu to work in Tiruvallur district near Chennai. They realised that they were cheated and didn’t have money to eat as they spent all the money they had to buy tickets to return home.

Five of them collapsed at the station on September 16 and were rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.

The labourers were rushed to the government hospital by civic authorities. The deceased has been identified as Samar Khan (35), while the person receiving treatment is Satya Pandit. The three patients who were discharged from hospital were sent to their homes by a flight.
