Lucknow: Buddh Singh, a resident of Girlodpur in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, had gone missing in 1994 and despite much efforts by his relatives he could not be traced.
After 30 years, the alleged skeleton of Buddh Singh was recovered from under the courtyard of his house in the village. It came as a shock for many as the relatives and the locals thought that Singh must have become an ascetic and living at some ashram somewhere.
It, however, turned out that Singh was murdered by his sons with the connivance of their father and his body was buried in the courtyard.
The disappearance of Buddh Singh and the subsequent recovery of his alleged skeleton after thirty years appears to be the plot of a crime serial.
Singh's youngest son Panjabi Singh, who was barely nine year old when his father went missing, approached the cops a few days back and told them that his two elder brothers had killed his father and buried his body in the courtyard. He also told the police that he had been threatened by his elder brothers
Although Panjabi Singh could not recall the date when his father had been murdered, he did remember the year, which was 1994. He also told the cops that he had some recollection of the place where his father's body had been buried.
The police, on the directives of the senior officials, began digging the courtyard and after digging for about 15 feet a skeleton was recovered from there, sources said.
Police said that a DNA test would be conducted to ascertain if the body was indeed that of Buddh Singh. ''We are investigating the matter,'' said a senior police official in Hathras on Friday.
