In a series of measures aimed at ensuring the safety of women, the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission has proposed that male tailors should not be allowed to take measurements of women for stitching their clothes nor should men train women at yoga centres and gyms.
Commission has proposed several measures to ensure safety of women which also included installation of CCTV cameras at gyms, yoga centres, boutiques, coaching centres and other places frequented by women.
According to the sources, the proposals, which were discussed in a recent meeting of the commission, have been sent to the state government and would be implemented if they were accepted.
The proposals included appointment of women trainers at gyms and yoga centres for women besides verification of gym.
It also proposed that women security personnel should be deployed in school buses and a lady teacher should also be there. The Commission has proposed that women teachers should be appointed at dance and drama schools which also have CCTV cameras.
Male tailors should not be allowed to take measurements of women and ladies’ tailors should be there at the boutiques selling and stitching women’s garments.
A member of the commission said that these proposals had been sent to the state government for its consideration and approval.
The measures came in the wake of incidents of rapes, molestations of girls inside school vans and buses in parts of the state. Only recently a school van driver had raped a 14-year old student in Shahjahanpur district of the state.
Recently, a gym trainer was arrested in Kanpur town for killing a woman, who was a regular at his gym. A tailor allegedly raped a minor in Bareilly district.
