New Delhi: West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose called on President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday.

He met President Droupadi Murmu as well as Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar to appraise them of the situation in West Bengal as the aftermath of the rape and murder of a medical intern in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Bose gave a detailed account of the unfolding situation in the state that has seen massive protests against the Mamata Banerjee government’s handling of the case. Bose is also likely to meet Union minister Amit Shah and BJP president J P Nadda.

There has been speculation that Bose may recommend the imposition of President’s Rule in West Bengal.

In a video statement released by his media cell, the Governor took a dig at Mamata after the Supreme Court questioned the Bengal government over the delay in filing FIR.

“The entire nation heard with great relief the pronouncements of the Supreme Court of India. Remember, every saint has a past, every sinner has a future. Anyone listening? Will Mamata Banerjee please raise her hands,” he asked. He had earlier visited the hospital and met protesting medics on August 15.

Like his predecessor Dhankar, Bose has lately been at loggerheads with Mamata after years of peaceful coexistence.
