Following reports of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb being lauded in a rally held by Asaduddin Owaisi in Maharashtra, the AIMIM president threatened to sue news outlets for what he called fake news.
The ruling Shiv Sena-BJP government has taken strong exception to such sloganeering and wanted to know why the Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray is silent over it.
The rally took place at Malkapur in Buldhana district on Saturday evening.
“The police were there at the rally. You (channels) have been broadcasting lies. How much will you hate Muslims? I will file cases against you,” Owaisi said on Sunday.
Reacting to it, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, asserted that the mentality would be exposed.
“How come such sons of Aurangzeb are born… who are these people?…who is behind these people?… All these questions would be answered soon,” he said.
State BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, “The sons of Aurangzeb are raising heads… During Owaisi’s rally, pro-Aurangzeb slogans were raised…. Recently (Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi founder) Prakash Ambedkar paid tributes at the tomb of Aurangzeb (in Khuldabad)… Why is Thackeray, who speaks about Hindutva, silent on this?”
Aurangabad MP Imtiaz Jaleel, the Maharashtra unit President of AIMIM, when asked about the 'incident', said that Owaisi had already spoken about it and there is nothing to add.
