Recipe: Try this delicious and nutritious detox salad

This delicious salad not only flushes toxins out of the body but also comes with many other benefits.

Spinach is rich in antioxidants and is known to be helpful in managing diabetes. It is also helpful in lowering blood pressure as it contains high levels of potassium. The vitamin A found in spinach promotes the health of both hair and skin.

Broccoli is a nutritious vegetable that can support heart health. Being rich in antioxidants it can slow down the process of aging. Broccoli can also help protect skin against sun damage.

Red cabbage is high in fibre and low in calories, making it beneficial to those trying to lose weight. It is rich in vitamin A and is good for promoting eye health. It is also rich in several antioxidants that may play a role in cancer prevention.

Ingredients:

1/2 a carrot, chopped

2 tbsp rice wine vinegar

1 tbsp olive oil

1/2 tbsp chopped ginger

1/2 tbsp honey

1/2 tbsp tahini

Salt and pepper, to taste

A dash of sesame oil

1-1/2 cups spinach, chopped fine

1 cup broccoli, chopped fine

1 cup red cabbage, chopped fine

1/2 cup carrot, chopped fine

1/2 cup coriander leaves

2-3 tbsp chopped spring onions

1/2 an avocado, diced

Procedure:

In a food processor or blender, pulse the carrot, vinegar, oils, ginger, honey, tahini, salt and pepper until a smooth salad dressing forms. Taste and add more seasoning to suit your taste preferences.

In a large bowl, add the spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, coriander, spring onions and avocado. Toss to combine. Serve with a drizzle of salad dressing.
