Despite his non-availability for a majority part of the Karnataka Premier League, Abhimanyu Mithun will remain with Shivamogga Lions, the franchise owner R Kumar confirmed on Tuesday.
Mithun's selection into the India Red squad for the Duleep Trophy on Monday has put the Lions in a difficult position. Shivamogga had acquired Mithun for a record price of Rs 8.3 lakh in the auction. On Monday, the Lions were in a dilemma to either to hold on to the 28-year-old pacer or replace him.
Kumar told DH he has decided to stick with Mithun. "I had a discussion with the other members of the franchises today and we have decided to retain him. We could have the services of Mithun for three-four matches. Last year, he had a great tournament with Bijapur Bulls and that's the reason we went all out for him during the auctions. We don't want to lose him," said Kumar.
Kumar also confirmed that the Lions have informed their decision to the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
