Last year in July, Microsoft had announced that the company would end Cortana voice assistant for iOS and Android smartphones in early 2021.

Well, the D-Day has finally arrived. People who had set reminders or scheduled meetings via the Cortana voice assistant will no longer get notifications on the mobiles. But, if you own a Windows PC, you will be notified of all the reminders.

Also, if you install the Microsoft To-Do app, you can continue to get lists, and task notifications on the phone.

Why Microsoft ended Cortana's support for mobiles?

"As we make this shift toward a transformational AI-powered assistant experience in Microsoft 365, we need to adjust our focus areas of innovation and development to give our customers assistance where they need it most," said Microsoft.

In that order, the company wants to improve productivity-focused experiences such as the Cortana Windows 10 experience, and Cortana integration in Outlook mobile. Also, it recently introduced Cortana voice assistance in the Teams mobile app.
