Earlier this week, Samsung's new Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra hit stores in India. It comes with big upgrades over the predecessor and also supports generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) features to deliver enhanced user experience.
Depending on the storage and connectivity options (Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + 5G cellular), the price of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra ranges between Rs 1,08,999 and Rs 1,33,999, respectively.
Design and display
The new Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra comes in a super slim design. It measures just 5.4mm in thickness and weighs 723g but the device features a sturdy armour aluminium enclosure, the same premium material used in the top-of-the-line Galaxy S24 series.
It comes in two colours--Moonstone Gray and Platinum Silver-- with a matte finish.
On the back, it has a dedicated magnetic slot to dock the S Pen stylus, which by the way comes free of cost with the retail box.
The S Pen is a very handy tool to take notes and draw digital art on the expansive 14.6-inch display.
One of the big advantages of a big display is that you can read news feeds on social media platforms with less scrolling.
Also, the Dynamic AMOLED 2X display (2960x1848p) of the Galaxy S10 Ultra comes with an anti-reflection feature. It is great for watching movies and TV series on OTT apps.
It also has a dual front camera in landscape orientation. It is good design choice, as the horizontal orientation is good for video calling.
It supports 5G SIM ( & e-SIM option), quad speakers, a microSD card, a type-C port and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Processor configuration
Both the Tab S10 Ultra is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ octa-core chipset with 12GB RAM. The company offers two storage options-- 256GB and 512GB.
The device works smoothly and can handle most of the graphics-rich gaming titles available on the Google Play Store.
Most importantly, it supports popular generative AI-based Galaxy AI features including Circle to search, live language translations, real-time audio transcribing capability and more.
The most important feature I am very keen to test is the sketch-to-image feature. It can magically transform a shoddy drawing into colourful digital art.
The device runs Android 14-based One UI 6 OS. It is guaranteed to get seven years of Android update and security software coverage.
The premium Galaxy Tab S20 Ultra houses a dual-camera module-- 13MP+8MP ultra-wide sensors with LED flash. Though it is not on par with premium Galaxy S series phones, good enough to take sharp images of documents, which can be converted to PDF using converter apps.
On the front, it houses a dual-camera module-- 12MP+12MP ultra-wide sensors. They are really good for video calling, but for smooth streaming, one should have stable high-speed internet.
The new Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra comes packed with a massive 11,200mAh battery. It is more than enough to last a whole day. It supports 45W charging capability.
Initial thoughts
With support for gen AI features, the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra promises to be a handy gadget not just for creativity and entertainment but also for productivity.
