After launching Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 series foldable phones, Samsung has introduced the top-end tablet Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra in India.
The tablet features a super slim design and comes with an all-new MediaTek processor, promising smooth performance and a big upgrade in terms of battery capacity over the predecessor.
I used the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra for little over a week and here are my thoughts on Samsung's latest Android tablet.
Design, build quality and display
When you hold the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, the first thing you notice is how super slim this tablet is. It measures just 5.4mm in thickness, way thinner than a regular phone.
However, it is way bigger than other tablets on the market. It measures 326.4 mm(L) x 208.6 mm(W).
It comes in two colours—Moonstone Gray and Platinum Silver—with a matte finish.
Samsung has used high-quality armour aluminium for the rear side panel. The metallic enclosure is sturdy and comes with a matte finish. It offers a good grip for the fingers to hold on to the device and given how big it is, there is less of a chance of accidentally dropping it. If you have butter fingers, better get the official cover case. Samsung is offering two options—a Book Cover Keyboard (with a dedicated AI key) and an Outdoor Cover—for Rs 26,999 and Rs 6,999, respectively. These will ensure the device survives daily wear and tear.
Also, the device comes with an IP68 dust-and-water resistant rating, meaning it can survive water splashes and also accidental drops in water bodies of depths of up to 1.5 metres (around five feet) for close to 30 minutes.
On the back, the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra has a dedicated magnetic slot to dock the S Pen stylus, which by the way, comes free of cost with the retail box.
It houses a dual-camera module with an LED flash on the back. Also, it features four speakers—two each on the right and left side (in landscape orientation). They deliver good audio output and can fill up any regular room in the house. Even when volume is put to the max, there is no noticeable distortion as such.
On the front, it sports a massive 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen (2960x1848p) with anti-reflection feature, pixel density of 239 ppi (pixels per inch) and 120Hz refresh rate. It is one of the best displays I have seen on a tablet. It is tailor-made to consume multimedia content. The visuals are vibrant and make you binge-watch TV series and movies on OTT apps.
The big expansive display is also great for reading long-form news articles, and e-books and scrolling through news feeds on social media platforms.
It has a notch at the centre (in landscape orientation mode). It houses dual-camera sensors, but the OTT apps are optimised to even out the camera notch at the top with the bezels on all sides to deliver obstruction-free viewing.
The in-display fingerprint sensor works amazingly well as long as the finger is dry and clean.
Performance
Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is powered by a 4nm class MediaTek 9300+ octa-core (3.25 GHz Cortex-X4 x 1 core + 2.85 GHz Cortex-X4 x 3 cores + 2.0 GHz Cortex-A720 x 4 cores) with Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU and 12GB RAM.
The device works smoothly without any noticeable lag. It also supports almost all graphics-rich gaming titles available on Google Play Store.
It runs Android 14-based One UI OS and comes with a several third-party apps pre-loaded. But, it has enough storage to accommodate them and also hundreds of new apps, which the user plans to install in future. The company offers the device in two storage options—256GB and 512GB. Also, there is a dedicated slot for microSD card. It can help user expand the storage up to 1TB.
And, Samsung will offer seven years of Android OS and software security updates (up to 2031). It will soon get the Android 15 update.
The S Pen is a very handy tool to take notes and make digital art on the expansive 14.6-inch display. The stylus is fully optimised to deliver a natural writing experience on the screen.
The device supports all Galaxy AI features including audio transcription, language translations and even the sketch to image. The latter works amazingly well on the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.
You can see how good the sample AI-generated photos are. No matter how badly I sketch, it magically polishes the rough drawing into a piece of art. Yes, there is room for improvement, but it is the best such feature out there.
The premium Galaxy Tab S20 Ultra houses a dual-camera module—13MP+8MP ultra-wide sensors with LED flash. It takes really good images. It can capture sharp clear images of documents, which can be converted to PDF using converter apps.
On the front, it houses a dual-camera module—12MP+12MP ultra-wide sensors. They are really good for video calling, but for smooth streaming, one should have stable high-speed internet.
The new Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra houses an 11,200mAh battery. With a full charge, it can support video playback for up to 18 hours. But, under normal usage with around three hours of screen time per day, it can last for 3-4 days. When not in use, there is hardly any drop in battery life.
it supports 45W charger. With this, the device takes a little over two hours to fully charge from zero to 100 per cent.
Final thoughts
Samsung's premium tablet ticks all the boxes we expect from a premium tablet. It has the one of best displays on a tablet in the market. Even the super slim design and the build quality are exceptionally good.
The Galaxy AI features and S Pen Stylus support make the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra a versatile tablet and make it stand apart from rival brands.
It delivers the really good user experience not just in terms of fun creative work but also productivity as well.
Depending on the storage and connectivity options (Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + 5G cellular), the price of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra ranges between Rs 1,08,999 and Rs 1,33,999, respectively.
