<p>A Bengaluru doctor has collaborated with a toy maker to come up with an inexpensive instrument to help patients suffering from throat cancer. Together, they are making a prosthetic plunger that doctors can use to insert artificial voice boxes into the throats of patients who have lost their voice. Dr Vishal Rao, the surgical oncologist at Health Care Global (HCG), Bengaluru, is the doctor behind the initiative.The instrument is priced at Rs 50, or less than a dollar. It is reusable, disposable and biodegradable.</p>
