Patanjali Contempt Case Highlights: 'Not convinced,' says SC on Ramdev's apology, raps U'khand licensing body for inaction & lists matter for April 16
After a Supreme Court's ultimatum, yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, the MD of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, tendered an 'unconditional and unqualified apology' to the top court, which failed to convince the Bench. The apex court was hearing the matter of 'misleading' advertisements by the firm, making tall claims about the efficacy of its products. The Supreme Court had asked Ramdev and Balakrishna to be present at the hearing. SC also pulled up Uttarakhand drug authorities, asking why no action was taken despite clear mention of 'suggestive nature' of content, and asked the officers concerned to submit affidavit explaining inaction within two weeks. The matter has been posted for April 16. Thanks for staying with us. We will be back with more coverage and live updates.
