Apple says it disagrees with UK findings on mobile browsers

London: Apple said on Friday it disagreed with findings by the British competition regulator that the US tech giant could be holding back innovation in smartphone browsers.

"We disagree with the findings in the report regarding Safari, WebKit, and in-app browsing on iOS," the company said in an emailed statement, adding that it would continue to engage constructively with Britain's Competition and Markets Authority.

"We are concerned that the interventions discussed in the report for future consideration under the Digital Markets, Competition, and Consumers Act would undermine user privacy and security and hinder our ability to make the kind of technology that sets Apple apart."
