<p>Infosys, India's second largest IT services company, will be investing Rs 100 crore on a new software development centre in Kolkata, West Bengal.</p>.<p>Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee laid the foundation stone for the Bengal Silicon Valley Hub in Kolkata, where the project is located.</p>.<p>As part of this project spread over 50 acres, Infosys will invest approximately Rs 100 crore in the first phase of construction to build a 5,25,000 sq feet facility, in which the company is expecting to create employment for 1,000 engineers initially.</p>.<p>The company expects to complete the first phase of the project within 15 months from the date of obtaining all statutory clearances.</p>.<p>“On this special occasion, I would like to thank the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, for giving Infosys a unique opportunity to be a part of this prestigious project, and further strengthen our presence across the country,” said, Salil Parekh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Infosys.</p>.<p>This is the second major announcement by the the IT major regarding its plans in India, within a month's time.</p>.<p>Earlier in July, the company had said that it will be investing Rs 750 crore to set up a facility in Noida.</p>.<p>As part of this project, in the Phase 1, the company is expecting to build a 2.7 million sq feet facility that accommodates 5,000 people.</p>
