<p>Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh's capital Amaravati is aiming to emerge as the 'drone capital' of India, as the state government kicked off the two-day 'Amaravati drone summit' in Amaravati on Tuesday. While inaugurating the summit, chief minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/n-chandrababu-naidu">N Chandrabau Naidu</a> asked players in the drone industry to use Andhra Pradesh as a pilot or testing ground for producing use cases and proof of concepts.</p><p>In the presence of civil aviation minister, K Ram Mohan Naidu, the chief minister also promised to allot 300 acres to establish a drone hub at Orvakal in Kurnool district, which is near Hyderabad, Chennai, and Amaravati.</p><p>Drone innovators and manufacturers drawn from several parts of the country gathered in Amaravati will engage in insightful panel discussions, workshops, and fireside chats led by industry leaders during the summit.</p><p>“Amaravati will become the drone capital of India, and Andhra Pradesh will lead the way in drone technology. The initiative aims to boost drone manufacturing, innovation, and research in the state,” Naidu said in his inaugural address.</p><p>He also announced a plan to train 35,000 drone pilots in Andhra Pradesh, positioning the state as a human resource hub for drone technology. He highlighted that 400 million terabytes of data is being generated daily, and when combined with AI, this data has the potential to drive innovations that were previously unimaginable.</p><p>Looking to the future, Naidu spoke about the rise of the knowledge economy, driven by AI, machine learning, and cloud technologies. He stressed the importance of creating a robust ecosystem for knowledge-based industries in Andhra Pradesh, calling on the state to think globally and act accordingly in this evolving field.</p><p>“With the flexibility of operations and accuracy of data, drones, AI, and other emerging technologies will help Andhra Pradesh, and India as a whole, lead the world in the knowledge economy,” he added.</p><p>Naidu also highlighted how Andhra Pradesh has always adapted to technology. “Andhra Pradesh has always been at the forefront of of adapting cutting-edge technology to solve pressing challenges”, he said. He cited the recent use of drones during the Vijayawada floods, where they were deployed to deliver food and water to affected areas. “Drones can solve traffic problems in cities, improve agricultural processes, and bring revolutionary changes to healthcare,” he said.</p>
