Coronavirus news highlights: Karnataka sees over 10,000 new Covid-19 cases, 114 deaths in 24 hours
India's Covid-19 tally crosses 69 lakh with 70,496 fresh cases, 964 deaths in 24 hours as the country's death toll climbed to 1,06,490 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total recoveries have surged to 59,06,069 pushing the recovery rate to 85.52 per cent, while there are 8,93,592 active cases.

China joins WHO's COVAX alliance for global distribution of Covid-19 vaccines; to buy doses for 15 mn
China has officially joined the World Health Organization's (WHO) COVAX alliance to equitably distribute Covid-19 vaccines around the globe, ending speculation that it plans to supply them on its own to developing countries to improve its image dented by the pandemic since it emerged in Wuhan in December last year.
No significant benefit of Umifenovir in Covid-19 treatment: Glenmark
Drug firm Glenmark Pharmaceuticals on Friday said that the addition of antiviral Umifenovir did not demonstrate any significant clinical benefit over Favipiravir alone in moderate Covid-19 patients.
