Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched a scathing attack on the Opposition parties who alleged that the Modi government is selling off all government assets. In the eighth edition of Raisina Dialogue, which is under way in the national capital, she said, “There is no sector in India that is not available for the private sector to be in and function. Public sector policy is not a crazy one, the government is not selling out everything. Opposition fully understands the meaning but says we are selling them off. We are not selling them off.”
.
Later, Sitharaman clarified that the government is only divesting those properties that are not performing, and their focus is on ensuring sustainable growth by efficiently utilising resources.
