Forest Department and STF seize 13 live turtles, 3 poachers arrested

Joint team of Forest Department and STF team seized 13 scheduled species of turtles that were being smuggled in UP’s Etawah on May 21. Based on an information, the team intercepted a car at Anant Ram toll plaza. The officials found that they were carrying 13 turtles which are of restricted species. The officials also arrested 3 persons in connection with the incident.

“We had information that some turtles would be taken to Uttarakhand. Based on information, a joint team of Forest Department and STF stopped the vehicle at Anant Ram toll plaza. Out of that 3 people were caught. 13 turtles were recovered from them which are of restricted species,” said Atul Kant Shukla, Divisional Director Forest, Etawah.
