<p>Sakharayapattana police have arrested seven men on the charges of trafficking cattle illegally.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The accused men were identified as Sabinandan, Rahim, Amit, Sharif, Shekhara Naika, Hema G Naika and Salim.</p>.<p class="bodytext">They were arrested at Machagondanahalli check-post. An amount of Rs 35,000 cash, which they had collected after selling 16 cows, two goods carriers and weapons used for the crime were seized from the accused.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Six cases had been registered against the accused in Chikkamagaluru. All the accused men were remanded to judicial custody after being produced in a local court.</p>.<p class="CrossHead"><strong>Two assaulted</strong></p>.<p class="bodytext">Following an argument over collecting drinking water, a couple was assaulted in Ellambalase in Kadur on Tuesday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">When Sheikh Ansar was collecting drinking water from a tap, his neighbours Hazmat Ulla, Muhammed Ahmed Khan and three others allegedly assaulted Ansar and his wife Shamim Banu.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Both sustained injuries and are availing treatment in a government hospital in Kadur. A complaint was registered in Yagati police station.</p>
