<p class="title">Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday said it had come to his notice that a few engineers in his department were spending time in bars, when they should have been in office.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“Disciplinary action will be initiated against them. I have told my senior officers to keep track of the whereabouts of the engineers,” Shivakumar told reporters here.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He said strict instruction had been given to engineers to keep a detailed record of grants spent on various projects. Progress of ongoing projects should be videographed and sent to the department headquarters.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Poor quality work will not be tolerated, he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He said, with the onset of summer, an action plan will be worked out on the allocation of water in various reservoirs for drinking purposes and irrigation.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Steps will be taken to fill tanks in pockets facing water shortage, Shivakumar added.</p>
