<p> At a time when the BBMP is planning to develop and modernise corporation schools under the ‘Roshni’ project, the teachers, whose services are outsourced, are getting less salary when compared with ‘pourakarmikas’.</p>.<p>The outsourced teachers held a protest in front of the BBMP head office on Wednesday, seeking a pay hike and the pending salary for the month of October.</p>.<p>There are about 560 outsourced teachers working in the 153 BBMP schools across the city. The civic body has given a tender to a private company to pay their salaries.</p>.<p>Speaking to <span class="italic">DH</span>, Veeresh Nayak T, secretary of BBMP outsourced teachers association, said: “We are fighting for equal pay for equal work. Even ‘pourakarmikas’ are getting more salary than us.”</p>.<p>“The BBMP has outsourced the salary payment process to Crystal Info System Company. The company will be paid by BBMP and they will pay us, but the company is delaying the payment. The payment for October is pending. We request the Palike to stop outsourcing the payment process and pay us directly like they pay pourakarmika’s,” Nayak added.</p>.<p>Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun assured that necessary action would be taken and that pending salaries would be released soon.</p>.<p>“The decision has to be taken by the BBMP commissioner but he is in France. Once he is back, I will direct him to take necessary action and not to delay the payment,” Gangambike added.</p>
