‘The Ultimate Tour’ comes to Ozone Urbana on October 13. As the sales of tickets opened online, the singer-songwriter’s followers have started a countdown. Metrolife spoke to city musicians to gauge their mood.
.
Debjeet Basu, guitarist/composer with ‘Perfect Strangers’
.
“I have been listening to Bryan Adams since I was in class 7. My mother gifted me the album ‘So Far So Good’ on my birthday; it was the first CD I ever owned. CD players were rare then and one had to play the tracks on a computer.
.
Bryan Adams is known for his ballads. His songs had a great influence on me, though the music I make now is completely different. Most of his music was about love and that resonates with everyone. But my band and I did a tribute to him and Bon Jovi recently. Somewhere this love for songs which touch you always stays.”
.
Favourite songs: “The list is endless. ‘So Far So Good’ was a great compilation of his songs. Over the years, my favourites from his repertoire have changed; it started with the obvious choices — ‘Summer of 69’ and ‘Heaven’. Now, I love a lot of his experimental works which came later like ‘18 Till I Die’, ‘Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?’, ‘On A Day Like Today’ and ‘Lie To Me’. ”
.
Expectations from the tour: “I have attended his concert earlier and look forward to this one too. I am hoping to hear tracks from ‘On A Day Like Today’ and ‘Room Service’.”
.
Prashanth Gnanamuthu, guitarist with ‘Abha Hanjura & Sufistication’ and ‘Jason Zac Band’
.
“I have been listening to Bryan Adams’ music for more than a decade. I like the simplicity of his tracks but they are not all that simple; there is a twist to the musicality which intrigues the listener. Playing a tribute event, I realised the minute details that go into his music.”
.
Favourite songs: “‘18 Till I Die’, ‘Cuts Like A Knife’, ‘Please Forgive Me’, ‘Cloud No 9’ and ‘Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?’ are some of them.”
.
Expectations from the tour: “This is the first time I am going to see him perform live and I am going to attend the event with an open mind.”
.
Shubham Roy, frontman of ‘The Shubham Roy Collective’
.
“I came across the song ‘Here I Am’ when I was in class 8. I didn’t know who the song was by and after I did my research, I started listening to more of his songs. His works ‘Reckless’ and ‘Run To You’ were more like anthems than just songs and I grew up listening to them.”
.
Favourite songs: “‘Here I Am’, ‘Heaven’ and ‘Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?’ are some of his numbers that I keep listening to. ‘I Think About You’ is another favourite.”
.
Expectations from the tour: “I hope I get to hear some of my top favourites but I also hope that he surprises me with some new numbers.”
.
Michael Dias, vocalist of ‘Mad Orange Fireworks’
.
“I discovered his album ‘So Far So Good’ when I was in the fifth grade. His lyrics are well-written and remain in my memory till date. He’s written some great pop music; mostly simple love songs.”
.
Favourite songs: “At present, I am a big fan of his song, ‘I’m Ready’. ‘I’ll Be Right There’ and ‘Inside Out’ are my other favourite songs.”
.
Expectations from the tour: “I am hoping the tracks he performs will be ones I’ve heard earlier.”
.
Tickets online
.
Tickets are available on www.bookmyshow.com for Rs 1,969, Rs 3,969 and Rs 9,969.
