<p>Citizens and volunteers residing in and around JP Nagar 7th and 8th Phase on Sunday joined in the drive to clean the space around Kothanur Lake.</p>.<p>Over 100 volunteers took part in the clean-up work that went on for four hours.</p>.<p>Volunteers went around the 19-acre lake to pick up plastic waste strewn around by local residents.</p>.<p>B R Shivaswamy, president of the Kothanur Lake Development Association, said about 1.25 tonnes of garbage had been collected and handed over to the BBMP for disposal.</p>.<p>This apart, the volunteers also conducted an awareness campaign around the lake, urging the public not to litter the shore. They also took an oath with the slogan — Don’t throw garbage and don’t allow others to throw. </p>
