<p>Forest department officials on Monday had a surprise when they received a call to rescue a spotted deer near the Jindal factory on Tumakuru Road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The deer had accidentally strayed into the home of Rajanna, a villager, with his sheep and goats.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The surprised grazer, aware of the wildlife species, intimated the forest officials at 4 pm who captured the deer and released it into a conducive habitat after a thorough examination.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to forest officials, the deer lost its way and joined the grazing herbivores around Chikbidrikallu forest patch near Tumakuru Road. The forest patch is part of the Hessarghatta range.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The forest officials said that this is the first such incident on this side of the urban environment and was a sign that these parts too are being distributed like Bannerghatta National Park.</p>
