<p>The Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) conducted a workshop for traffic police personnel regarding its public bicycle-sharing project.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The officers, including assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) and police sub-inspectors (PSI), on Thursday were briefed about 400 parking hubs that will emerge soon in clusters 1 and 2 in the city.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The officers were told about the entire system of bicycle sharing, its jurisdiction, number of operators, and how the police can extend co-operation in terms of enforcement and regulation of the project.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The officers were also briefed about the safety of bicycle users as a good number of citizens are expected to use the service.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The DULT had already made a presentation before senior police officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) R Hitendra and Deputy Commissioner of Police (East; Traffic) Anupam Agarwal a few weeks ago.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“We have also asked the senior traffic police officials to provide us guidelines, if any, apart from the ones we have enlisted in our presentation,” said N Murali Krishna, Special Officer. “We also need a No-objection Certificate (NOC) for the project, and they are the sole authority to give us a consolidated permission,” he added.</p>
