<p>Bengaluru Development Minister G Parameshwara inspected the Bellandur and Kaggadasapura lakes on Monday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Parameshwara was accompanied by Mayor R Sampath Raj and the BBMP, BWSSB and BDA officials.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The minister directed officials to immediately address the residents’ complaints.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He said the priority is to save the lakes from pollution and encroachments.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He said STPs at Kaggadasapurua and other lakes will be provided.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Parameshwara spoke to the residents and said the industrial units around Bellandur Lake, responsible for the frothing, have been served a notice. Seema Sharma of Kasamukta Bellandur, said,” We explained the issues like dumping of garbage and construction debris. But we were able to talk to him for a couple of minutes and couldn’t explain much to him.”</p>.<p class="CrossHead"><strong><span class="bold">Meets Palike officials</span></strong></p>.<p class="bodytext">After visiting the lakes, G Parameshwara held a meeting with the BBMP officials in the afternoon.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He told reporters: “I have been briefed by the officials about various civic problems and their work towards a permanent solution.”</p>.<p class="bodytext">The BBMP has formed 63 subdivisions consists of chief engineers in all eight zones to take care of the rain-related problems in the city. With the onset of monsoon, he spoke about his directions to them to avoid any rain damage.</p>.<p class="bodytext"><strong><span class="bold">6,000 Potholes in the City</span></strong></p>.<p class="bodytext">The BBMP has identified 6,000 potholes in the city and will be filling only 1,200 potholes by python machines. G Parameshwara said: The BBMP will be repairing the 1200 potholes, which are more than one square meter wide by using the two python machines, used to fill the potholes in a week’s time. Remaining potholes will be repaired within 10 days.”</p>.<p class="bodytext"><strong><span class="bold">Drain encroachment</span></strong></p>.<p class="bodytext">G Parameshwara directed the officials to prepare a new map of the Rajakaluve (main stormwater drain) across the city and zero-in the encroachments, clear them and take action against the encroachers. “Action against all encroachers will be taken,” he said.</p>
